AWARD - D.C. SPJ CHAPTER - 2000 WEEKLY SPOT NEWS

WASHINGTON – The Washington, D.C., professional chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists honored the top local reporting, photography and commentary of 2000 in the chapter’s annual Dateline Awards competition for print and broadcast media.

Weekly Spot News - First place: Tatiana Boncompagni, Vanessa Blum, Ron Eckstein, Jenna Greene, Sam Loewenberg, Legal Times, What Now? – AOL Time Warner. The coverage got behind the headlines on the megamerger and reported in straightforward style what led up to it and how it would play out.

The honors were presented at the D.C. SPJ chapter’s annual banquet in 2001 at the National Press Club.

The Society of Professional Journalists is the nation's largest and most broad-based journalism organization, dedicated to encouraging the free practice of journalism and stimulating high standards of ethical behavior. With more than 340 members, the Washington, D.C., chapter is the largest chapter in the Society of Professional Journalists.
